Calling Heroes, Mentors and Master Teachers Minimize

Core Passion Hero™ is a year long in-depth mentor program that teaches the knowledge and develops the skills to empower students to become self-aware, caring, passionate and responsible citizens. This powerful program for middle school, junior high and high school students uses the 4 Keys of Core Passion in a proven process with life changing results delivered through mentoring. College age young adults will be trained to effectively work with and facilitate the topics thus becoming a Mentor to the students. To create sustainability and expansion for the program, a Masters level program for adults will be developed with the intention that these Master trainers will in the future train the college age young adults. The creation of the Masters Level will ensure that more students will have access to the program, thus ensuring a powerful ripple effect.

Our vision is to deliver an already well-proven, established and very powerful Mentor program that will impact everyone involved. This is a walk-the-talk program that asks everyone to aim higher, commit to long-term, sustainable growth and learning.

Woven in with fun, creative exercises, art, passion and inspiration, this program aims to reach into the heart and souls of students of all ages and all levels, while creating tangible, practical results. There is no doubt in our minds that this will change the landscape of not only the students, but also the schools, communities and the future.

Partnership Possibilities and recruitment of College students:

College students could be recruited from Education, Psychology or Leadership Majors who can receive credit in the same form as they would in an internship. College students interested in the program could be asked to complete an application process that includes an essay and one recommendation.

Program Structures:

Audience: Middle School, Junior High and High School Students – grades 7, 8, 9

Phase One – Part A:

  • A 3-dayIntensive Mentor Train-the-trainer, Graduate Level : Training a group (or two) of Mentors (College age young adults) in the skills and tools so they can effectively work with, communicate with and facilitate the topics for the selected audience, thus becoming effective Mentors to students.
  • Support for Mentors: The Mentors will be supported through monthly group calls to address their own fears, obstacles and challenges, as well as celebrating successes. Mentors will also take the Core Passion Assessment, so they can use their gifts effectively and have an awareness of their own challenges.
  • Small group work for students: The Mentors can work with small groups (4 students) teaching the skills and tools in 2-hour segments. Each segment is self-contained and comes with instruction outlines and hand-outs (see example attached). Group sessions will combine two groups, therefore having the opportunity to co-facilitate.
  • Mentor Coaching : Each Mentor will also have the knowledge about how to address and work with the Codes of Core Passion of each student, using their learned Mentor Coaching skills to create an environment of respectful inquiry, deep listening, fun and accountability. This can be done in one-on-one coaching sessions, possibly every two weeks. This will build trust, deep connection and ongoing support for the students they are working with.
  • Mentor Coaching Group Support: Once a quarter group session (1 day) for Mentors to come together to hone skills, to support their ongoing work, to answer questions and to reconnect them with their mission and purpose.

Phase One – Part B:

  • A 4-day Train-the-trainer, Masters Level : At the same time, it is our vision that we will create an adult “Master” level program that works on the same principles as the Mentor training – with an added component of facilitation and “in front of the room” leader segments. These Master trainers will, in the future, take on the job of training the Mentors. The purpose of this is:
  1. to create sustainability and expansion for the program. It will be impossible for Lori and Ursula to continue to train all the groups if this program has a chance of growing. The creation of the Master Level will ensure that more students will have access to the program, thus ensuring a powerful ripple effect.
  2. Master Teachers can be teachers or any other adult (retired or not) who is passionate about trainings, personal and professional development and has the capacity to work with college age audiences.
  3. Aside from the “Mentor Level” topics covered above, Master level will also have an added segment, called
    • Leading from “Front of the Room” – competencies of the “ Magician” trainer.
    • Master Level participants will be supported by Lori and Ursula, in the same way (monthly group calls), as the Mentors..
